Mike Tyson - American boxer, heavyweight champion

Mike Tyson is one of the retired American boxer. He was the undisputed heavyweight champion and hold the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight title. He won the WBC title when he was 20 years, 4 months and 22 days old, after beat Trevor Berbick by a TKO in the second round. Throughout his career, Tyson became well-recognized for his ferocious and intimidating boxing style as well as his controversial performance both inside and outside the ring. He was the first heavyweight boxer to hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles concurrently.

Tyson won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout, with 12 of them happening in the first round. He combined the belts in the splintered heavyweight division in the late 1980s to become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. He became the lineal champion when he knocked out Michael Spinks in the first 91 seconds of the clash. Tyson lost his titles to 42-to-1 underdog James "Buster" Douglas on February 11, 1990, in Tokyo, Japan, by a hit in round 10. In 1992, Tyson was convicted of raping Desiree Washington, for which he was judgment to six years in prison but was released after serving three years. After being released from prison in 1995, he busy in a series of comeback fights.

He recover a portion of the heavyweight title, before losing it to Evander Holyfield in a 1996 fight by an 11th round TKO. Their 1997 rematch ended when Tyson was prohibited for biting off part of Holyfield's ear. He fights for a championship again at 35, losing by knockout to Lennox Lewis in 2002. He retired from professional boxing in 2006 after he was knocked out in successive matches against Danny Williams and Kevin McBride. He declared bankruptcy in 2003, despite getting over US$30 million for several of his fights and $300 million during his career. He is position #16 on Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time.

Oscar De La Hoya

Oscar De La Hoya is an retired American boxer of Mexican descent. He got a gold medal at the Barcelona Olympic Games. He comes from a boxing family. His grandfather Vicente, father Joel Sr., and brother Joel Jr. were every boxers. De La Hoya was The Ring's "Fighter of the Year" in 1995 and Ring Magazine's top rate Pound for Pound boxer in the world in 1997 & 1998. De La Hoya officially publicize his retirement from the sport at a press conference held in Los Angeles on April 14, 2009, thus ending any speculation of a possible match-up with undefeated junior middleweight, Julio César Chavez Jr, the elder son of Julio Cesar Chavez.

De La Hoya has defeated 17 world champions and has won 10 world titles in six dissimilar weight classes. He has also make more money than any other boxer in the history of the sport, an estimated $696 million pay-per-view income. De La Hoya founded Golden Boy Promotions, a fight sport promotional firm. He is the first American of Hispanic fall to own a national boxing promotional firm and one of the few boxers to take on promotional responsibilities while still active. The joy of victory was tempered by the news that his mother, Cecilia, was fatally ill with breast cancer. She died in October 1990, expressing the expect that her son would one day become an Olympic gold medalist.

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali was born January 17, 1942. He is a former American boxer and three-time World Heavyweight Champion, who is broadly considered one of the greatest heavyweight championship boxers of all time. As an amateur, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight partition at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. After turning specialized, he went on to become the first boxer to win the lineal heavyweight championship three times.

Originally known as Cassius Clay, Ali changed his name after joining the Nation of Islam in 1964, then converting to Sunni Islam in 1975 and more recently to Sufism. In 1967, Ali refused to be inducted into the U.S. military based on his religious attitude and opposition to the Vietnam War. He was arrested and found responsible on draft evasion charges, nude of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended. He was not locked up, but did not fight again for nearly four years while his request worked its way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it was successful.

Nicknamed "The Greatest", Ali was involved in many historic boxing matches. Notable among these are three with rival Joe Frazier and one with George Foreman, whom he beat by hit to win the world heavyweight title for the second time. He suffer only five wounded with no draws in his career, while amassing 56 wins. Ali was well known for his unorthodox fighting style, which he describe as "float similar to a butterfly, sting like a bee", and employing techniques such as the rope-a-dope. He was also known for his pre-match hype, where he would "trash talk" opponent on television and in person some time before the match, often with rhyme.
