Tiatr Academy of Goa has many schemes formulated for the purpose of discovering dramatic and singing talents from the villages.
The scheme ‘Encouraging Production of Tiatr in Villages’ financially helps the artiste in the villages to the tune of Rs. 20,000/- if the tiatr is produced with the help of artistes from the villages. Besides, TAG provides a director to direct the play. The most important condition is that all the artistes and singers must be the residents of the concerned village.
The 2nd scheme is ‘Encouraging the Promotion of Tiatr Related Activities’. Under this scheme any individuals/associations can stage a tiatr / skits / one act plays / musical shows, etc for which financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 10,000/- is given.
Any individual or institution can take benefit of these schemes only once in a financial year. The performance must be shown to the public free without charging any tickets.
Therefore those individuals / associations interested in taking the benefit of these schemes to organize any activity within the purview of the above mentioned two schemes in this financial year ending 31st March 2012 are requested to apply in prescribed Application Form to TAG on or before 20th May 2011.

A FOND TRIBUTE - Rosary Menino Fernandes
A FOND TRIBUTE
Time To Shower Praises, but Death Bells Toiled.....
Yesterday just as I was reaching the office, my mobile range. The call was from an unknown landline.
I commenced with a ‘Hello’.
“LinoBab, did you get the news”
“About what?”, recognizing the familiar voice, I retorted.
“Rosary Ferns is no more, he suffered a massive heart attack”, for a minute, I felt still. Sensing a silence from my end, he continued “I myself could not believe it. That’s why after checking with a few others and confirming this news, I thought to inform you about it”.
For a few moments I felt as if I was lost! My mind raced towards Rosary Ferns..... Our friendship was simple. Wherever our paths crossed and we met at some public squares, we always communicated amongst us joyfully. That’s only was our friendly relationship. But his thought provoking tiatr writings and direction was always high in my mind. He was always seen as a great singer, tiatr writer, director and stage artiste.
That’s exactly the reason, his last tiatr presentation ‘Kuwait Soddun Vetana’ which has created history in Kuwait was attended by me on three different occasions enthusiastically. When the Mangalorean community staged the show for the second time, Konkan Kala Samithi-Kuwait organized the tiatr script and re-wrote it in the Kanada format by Lancy Rodrigues, Bondel, under the direction of Rosary Ferns and well supported by prominent artistes. I wrote a review in my weekly Konkani presentation for goa-world.com ‘Aitaracheo Katkutleo” section {now archived at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gulf-goans/message/26106}
Rosary’s works have been well recognized and appreciated by people from other Indian states as well. His well-acclaimed drama “Kuwait Soddun Vetana” was staged by Kuwait Canara Welfare Association for the third time and the Konkani speaking community (embracing) the Kanada script. Not only this, recently Konkan Kala Samithi-Kuwait has also done an excellent DVD presentation which I have seen.
While I intended to do a small article on such an effort and focusing on this DVD, the news conveyed to me by my friend about Rosary’s sudden demise, sounded as if the church bells ringing in my ears!
One of the strongest pillar of the Konkani stage has collapsed.
21 Tiatr (Dramas) have been written and staged and scores of songs on CD and VCD are produced by him. But one of his creative composition in the form of a Mando titled “Mogan Tujea Lasotam” (Am in Love with You), in my opinion and memory will last forever, sung with Veeam Bond Braganza.
Almighty Father! Our solemn prayers to grant our friend eternal rest in your Heavenly Abode.
I, together with the goa-world.com team, convey our deepest condolences to late RosaryFerns’ family.

TAG to Remember Late Dr. Rosario Rodrigues
TAG to Remember Late Dr. Rosario Rodrigues
Tiatr Academy of Goa will organize a special function to observe the Birth Anniversary of the most popular Khell-tiatrist of Goa Late Dr. Rosario Rodrigues on Sunday, 24th October 2010 at 10:00 am at Pai Tiatrist JAF Auditorium, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao. On this occasion Anil-Olga’s Popular Khell-Tiatr “Xim Mer Asonk Zai” will be staged.
Late Dr. Rosario Rodrigues was born on 24th October 1948 and hails from Benaulim in Salcete tuluka of Goa. He was a brilliant student during his childhood days but showed keen interest in dramas. Benaulim was famous for khell-tiatrists, literate as well as illiterate. Dr. Rosario would write down the scripts for those who could not write. Gradually he started writing his own scripts and lending it to others. In 1969 he formed his own troupe and wrote his first khell “MENAKXI”.
During those days there used to be competitions of khell-tiatrs. Two different directors would stage their khells for a competition and results were normally declared after show of hands. In 1971 Rosario brought a change and staged two khells on the stage. This was called a Khell-Tiatr as the khell was performed on the stage. He came up with khell-tiatrs of his own plays namely “AMI FATOR” and “EKUCH RATI”. Other directors also followed this pattern.
Each khell in the khell-tiatr was of one and half hour duration. “12 Vorsani” and “Patang”, “Patkin” and “Tem”, “Chedde Cheddvam” and “Ekleanuch Poila”, “Hindustani Cheddvam” and “Frank Sinatra” etc were some of his famous khell-tiatrs of one and half hour duration each. In 1976 Dr. Rosario Rodrigues started a new innovation on the khell-tiatr stage. Instead of two plays he staged a full length drama of 3 hours “FATTIM PAULO”. It was a big success. Other directors also followed this pattern.
There was a time when tiatrs were witnessed by high class and the literate people while khell-tiatrs by the masses. Dr. Rosario Rodrigues changed this too. He was instrumental in bringing khell-tiatrs on par with tiatrs so much so that the popularity of khell-tiatrs surpassed that of tiatrs. Rosario had many innovations to his credit in different fields of khell-tiatr.
He wrote and directed more than 75 dramas. He was responsible to take khell-tiatrs to each and every nook and corner of Goa and other parts of the country. He traveled to Mumbai, Pune, border areas of Karnataka, Maharashtra to stage his khell-tiatrs. He also staged performances in the Gulf.
This great personality of the khell-tiatr stage expired at a tender age of 58 years on 5th August 2003.
In order to keep the memories of late Dr. Rosario Rodrigues alive to the modern generation, TAG celebrates his birthday on 24th instant. Tiatr lovers and well wishers of Late Dr. Rosario are requested to attend the celebrations along with family members and friends.

Konkani CD "Gheyat, Punn Diyat"
The well renowned Bab Andrew proudly presents to you, his fourth Konkani album “Gheyat, Punn Diyat”. The music album which was earlier released in Qatar and Bahrain has catchy tracks by well known Bab Andrew, Andrea, and Andson, Aaron. They are well supported by Albert Cabral, Marcus Vaz, Francis de Tuem, Tony de Ribandar, Alias & Tommy(Jr Nelson). It is well knitted with good solos, duets, duos, Trios, and a well sung Chouko by the family.
In the opening song Bab Andrew tells us about the consequences we face we we don’t return our debts in time. A well sung solo which also suggest us to save something for our unseen difficult times instead of enjoying our life. The second song is by Marcus Vaz who brilliantly come out with the importance of wearing a rosary and a scapular, which is rarely worn by the people in thes modern times. The third is a Albert-Andrew duo that sings highly about the priests and the sacrifice the make for

the society and instead of appreciating that some people just makes a mole out of an anthill and depicts them as a nuisance in the same society. A very catchy tune and great lyrics. Then there is beautifully rendered solo by Andrea on ‘Niddukai’. Then come Francis de Tuem with his typical style. Here he sings about the malpractices at the “Fatorda Stadium”. Bab Andrew sings “Fokannam” with his daughter Andrea and his two sons - Andson and Aaron. A humorous 'chouko' by the family which is very rare these days. Further to that Tony de Ribandar sings a well knitted solo “Bogsonnem” wherein he sings about the care we should take while we discipline our children. Great lyrics indeed. Then come a duet with Andrea which highlights the importance of marriage vows taken on the wedding day. Alias renders a solo “Fotkiro” on the hardships faced by a people who stands as surety for others in need and ends up paying the debt themselves. Once again Albert-Andrew comes out with the religious values in the duo “Miss” demonstrate there is nothing more holy than the holy mass.

Revealing the History of Konkani Cinema
Revealing the History of Konkani Cinema
By Tomazinho Cardozo
If one has to gather authentic information about Konkani Cinema one must read the book “Konknni Cholchitram” written by well-known writer Isidore Dantas.
The book, written in Konkani in the Roman script, begins with information about the production and exhibition of the first Konkani celluloid film “Mogacho Anvddo” by producer-actor AL Jerry Braganza under the banner of ETICA Films way back in 1950. In fact, this book was published in 2010 on the occasion of completion of 60 years of Konkani Cinema.
One cannot forget the contribution of late Andrew Greno Viegas who single-handedly published the first book on the same subject titled “50 Years of Konkani Cinema” on the occasion of the golden Jubilee of Konkani Cinema in the year 2000.
Isidore Dantas’ “Konknni Cholchitram” gives detailed information about celluloid Konkani films produced during the last 60 years. In all there are 31 celluloid Konkani films produced till date. The films released as late as December 2009 find place in this book. These productions are done Konkani cinema aficionados from Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra. In brief the book can be considered a kaleidoscope of Konkani cinema from the Konkan region.
Mr Dantas has taken a lot of pains in giving detailed information about every film. He has made it a point to give the story of every film in brief besides including other technical and even financial aspects of the film. The success stories of film have also been included. The book is decorated with numerous photographs from every film. Besides, it carries lyrics from every film together with musical scores. This is the greatness of this book.
Mr Dantes has also added a chapter enlightening readers on the valuable contribution of Konkani-speaking filmmakers, artistes, technicians, musicians, singers, etc, to Indian Cinema. He has listed 48 personalities which include Goan actress Ermelinda (Sudhabala), Mangeshkar sisters, Shyam Benegal, Girish Karnad, Bhaskar Chandravarkar, Ashok Saraf, K Vaikunth, Domnic Dias, Varsha Usgaokar, Remo Fernandes and Hema Sardesai. He has also featured new entrants to the film world namely Freida Pinto, Iliana D’Cruz and Genelia D’Costa.
The book is dedicated to late Frank Fernando, who composed memorable music for the Konkani films “Amchem Noxib” and “Nirmonn”. The production of this book has been funded by George Pinto besides many others. The credit page records the valuable advice given by Ben Antao, Cecil Pinto and Francis Rodrigues.
The book was released on April 4 in California, USA on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of Goa Sudharop, a NGO working for the promotion of Konkani language, culture and Goan identity. The book, “Konknni Cholchitram” will be released in Goa on September 21 at 4.30 p.m. Hotel Mandovi, Panjim.

English translation:
THOU SHALL NOT DEFAME OTHERS
God created man in His likeness and gave him main body parts like hands, legs, nose, eyes, brain, tongue, etc.
He gave us two hands to work hard, to serve Him and to incense him with both hands. He gave us two legs to follow the God-fearing path, to go to His temple and to adore Him. He gave us a nose to smell good and bad things. He gave us two eyes to see beautiful things, visualize Him through them and to read the Holy Bible. He gave us brain to differentiate between good and bad and to spread the word of His Kingdom. He gave us two ears to hear good things – whenever we hear bad things, we must listen to them in one ear and throw them away through the other ear; and he gave us a tongue to speak the truth and to preach the word of God.
Among all the above-cited parts, our tongue is the only weapon which grows sharper every time we use it. It is a small organ which creates one of the two – good or bad. Our tongue is boneless which is why we use it liberally; that’s why they say in Konkani: “Kaddli jib, laili tonddak’ (Use it the way you want!) This is why many a times a word spoken with anger turns out to be wrong, for anger is a state of mind in which the tongue works faster than the brain. Nowadays, most murders take place because of arguments. Similarly, many a families have split because of our tongue. Therefore, if possible, keep your mouth shut but eyes open so you can see more and speak less.
In order to help us live, God provided us with Ten Commandments. The eighth Commandment forbids us to tell lies and defame our neighbor. Today’s world is very tricky. Cheating is on the increase. Telling lies has become our business. We can’t do anything without telling lies, be it in our homes or in our businesses, and we do this by using our tongue. In the same way, we easily deny given promises and offend God by taking His name in vain. Instead of thinking positive of our neighbor, we use our tongue to curse him and wish him bad. If possible, utter words of sympathy. Always speak the truth and God will definitely accept you in His paradise.
It’s our habit to use our tongue and gossip about others. In this world there is nothing worse than gossip. We make a mockery of our neighbor and defame him. We speak ill of our relatives, neighbors and paint a black mark on them. Why? Just because we feel good! We even defame our fellow netters on the Internet unnecessarily. We think if we defame our neighbor, we win; this is wrong thinking. Instead of thinking negative of your neighbor, if possible, wish him/her well; don’t curse him/her and wish him/her bad. Once you let cotton escape from the grip of your hand, it’s difficult to get it back. Keep in mind we are accountable for every deed of our life.
Do you want others to speak highly of you? Then never praise yourself. We must love our enemy and not hate him/her. Hatred turns into love when we wish well to those who think ill of us. We all need forgiveness; hence, we must always forgive our neighbor.
It is not enough to pray to God and to say rosary every day; we must be concerned about our neighbor and think well of him/her. Similarly, we do not become good Christians only by attending a mass in the Church. This is exactly why the Holy Bible says: If you hurt your neighbor and you are not in talking terms with him/her, leave the mass offering and first beg pardon with your enemy and only then your mass offering will be acceptable to God. Do we do this? If we are not ready to forgive our enemy we are not fulfilling the will of our Father.
God created each human being and assigned him with his/her own responsibility. If your neighbor committed a sin, he will pay for it – one has to pay for his/her mistakes. If possible, try to make him/her understand and if he/she is following the wrong path, try to correct him/her and put him/her back on the right path but not by criticizing and defaming him/her. We should not become washer men and try to wash others’ sins. God did not tell us that if we become tale-bearers He will take us to heaven!
On September 8, the Christian world celebrates the birth day of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Let us lock our tongue in this month and use it only to preach good word of our Lord. Let us not defame and destroy our neighbor; instead, let us think well of him/her. Let us not try to find fault with others and try to remove the speck from others’ eyes when there is a log in our eyes; this is not correct. Speak well of others and think good about them. If we do so, only then we will earn eternal peace.
Wish everyone happy Mount Mary’s feast!

Drummer Boy John Fernandes
Drummer boy
Published on: September 4, 2010

JOHN FERNANDES: John Fernandes is one of the talented young drummers in Goa today. Hailing from Maddel, Margao, he is the son of Francis Antonio and Caitana Fernandes.
His father was an ace drummer himself, playing for the ‘Young Stars of Goa’ theatre group, brass bands and the popular ‘Radio Serenaders’. As a young boy, John would accompany his father, playing the bass and snare drum at feasts and funerals while simultaneously completing his education at the Holy Spirit High School, Margao.
At the age of 8 years, John played for a ‘tiatr’ by Rocky Dias. This was an amateur show, but also the beginning of a long career. First there were the village dramas and soon the commercial stage. In ‘Battli’ a non-stop show by Pascoal Rodrigues, the young man got his professional break.
John has played for well known music directors like Josinho, Carlito, Augusto de Panchwadi, Agnelo Dias, Anthony de Velim, A Moraes, John de Nuvem, Thomson, Babush and Norman Cardozo and for dramas by directors like the late C Alvares, late Rosario Rodrigues as well as Felcy, Jose Rod, Tony Dias, Simon Gonsalves, Filipe and Janet, Ben Evangelisto, Milagres de Chandor, Mini Mario and many others. Lately he has played for ‘Mahanand’ the impressive presentation from Tony Dias, a ‘tiatr’ titled ‘Denvti’ by Comedian Ambe and is presently playing for ‘Goem Soddun Paulem Ghanttar’ the hit, from Peter-Roshan, that is running to packed houses.
John is a regular in bands that back the singers, for audio albums. He plays for recordings of Manfa Music, with Chris Corriea and other music directors. Edwin D’Costa gave him his first break for audio recordings and since then, there have been numerous albums, some recorded in Mumbai, for which John has backed with some stylish drumming, especially the rolls. He has played for dance bands like Genesis, Major Strings and is presently playing for Saby’s (of the Wings) new band. With great pride he mentions of the musical shows he played for, the late M Boyer and also for the legendary, late Chris Perry, who had presented a grand musical evening at the Kala Academy open air hall, Panaji.
John is quite happy with the progress made in music, for dramas. By emulating the dedication shown by the veteran musicians, there is even more scope for improvement. Taking a break from professional music, John was abroad for some time and worked at the ‘Pizza Hut’ as a pizza maker. Presently he is full time into music and lives with his wife Maria. We wish you all success John and a great career in drumming.

A workshop on stage songs of tiatr ‘Kantaram’ was organised by Kala Academy Goa in collaboration with Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) on 8th August 2010 at the Black Box, Kala Academy, Panjim. ‘Kantaram’ is a part and parcel of a tiatr, which also constitutes its uniqueness.
‘Kantaram’ are of different types such as Solos, Duets, Trios, Quartets etc. and all these songs of different types must be included in the tiatr. However in the recent times it has been observed that variety of ‘kantaram’ which form the uniqueness of tiatr, is not maintained by the present day tiatr artistes. Hence, the workshop was organised.
Tomazinho Cardozo, President of TAG explained in detail the various types of ‘Kantaram’ such as Solos, Duets,Trios, Quartets etc. He brought out the exact nature of Duets, Trios, Quartets and stressed upon the fact that the lyrics should be interactive in nature and every singer should be projected as a different character. He also stated that ‘Kantaram’ which are sung together with different voices and which can be termed as choral songs also form the part of a tiatr. Yet another type of song which is sung by different people and in which there is no interaction is also a part and parcel of the package of ‘Kantaram’ for a tiatr.
During the interaction, various participants asked for clarification and also gave valuable suggestions in order to dispel misunderstanding regarding Solos, Duets, Trios, Quartets etc. in the minds of singers and lyricists.
Dr. Pandurang Phaldessai, Member Secretary of Kala Academy in his address stated that such type of workshops are very valuable because it helps in better understanding of Tiatr, its Song & Music and also helps in the development of Tiatr, its Song & Music. He further stated that the concept of Duets, Trios, Quartets and choral songs as discussed in the workshop will be made applicable in the forthcoming Tiatr Festival and Konkani Kantaram Festival to be organised by Kala Academy shortly. He appealed to all the participants to implement the new changes effectively and make Goan ‘Kantar’ more popular and interesting to listeners. Victor de Da, Member Secretary of TAG proposed the vote of thanks.

It's a Revenge Review not Tiatr Review
It's a Revenge Review not Tiatr Review
I, Comedian Agostinho, got to know you (I repent it now), for the first time, when I came to perform in Rosary Ferns' Tiatr at Kuwait. At that time, you were introduced to me as Veronic. But now in 2010, just as Temudo has become Temuz, the years have taken its toll and Veronic has transformed into VIKH (Poison). That poison has contaminated your whole body and changed you to a RABID MAD DOG. Your actions are enough proof, as you bark at anybody and everybody, for no valid reason whatsoever, even at religious catholic priests.
Hope you know that, or else confirm it soon, that your sole identity is, and you are known as a RABID MAD DOG in the whole of Kuwait.
Your dirty conscience started pricking, the moment you saw an almost houseful audience present for my hit show ADVOGAD. If there were very less spectators, you would have been very happy and would have enjoyed your sadistic pleasures from the core of your rotten heart.
The timings of my tiatr coincided with the live telecast of one of the best matches of the World Cup, between Brazil and Portugal , teams which are cherished and have a huge fan following amongst Goans. In spite of this, I take pride in revealing to a mad jealous dog like you, that my show was patronized by the likes of Mr. Gaspar Crasto, Mr. Britto, and scores of football lovers and football players themselves. This goes on to prove my worth. If any other Tiatr was to be staged that day at the same time instead of ADVOGAD directed by Kalcho Porcho Director, the ground reality would have been totally different.
I don't rest on my laurels. But it is a proven fact and a record (Please Rabid dog, note it down on your personal diary in red ink) that I am the only Konkani tiatrist to perform 18 times at Kuwait, 4 times in my Tiatrs viz., SIR, POLICE I , POLICE II & ADVOGAD and the rest of the 14 times under different Directors, including Kuwait based Directors viz. Laurente Pereira, Mario de Majorda, Rosary Ferns, Comedian Philip, Jose Rod, KGTS, etc.
Undoubtedly, this speaks volumes that my comedy and my Tiatrs are liked and relished by Goan Tiatr lovers and the legion of my fans, to whom I am grateful from the bottom of my heart, and thank them profusely for the support, love and affection showered upon me. May God bless them all. With all this support, I can tread like a Giant and crush a Rabid Mad Dog like you under my feet.
Getting back to the so called 'Review', let me clarify that my troupe and myself arrived at 2 p.m. and were all set to perform by 3.30 p.m. Since the venue was new to most of the people, they were finding it difficult to find the same and were phoning my organizers that they are on their way. As such, I had to wait for the contractor's green signal and hence the delay. This fact was announced a couple of times by your good friend, Mr. Rosary Ferns, which you failed to hear, understandably, because you are turning deaf due to your old age. How about sponsoring you a HEARING AID DEVICE?
And yes, sadly, the GOAN STD TIME was, is and will be followed for ages by our susegado Goans. It is beyond our realm to change it, try as we may. And I can assure you, cent per cent, that the GST will be followed at your last voyage, your funeral, wherever held on Earth.
Regarding the storyline; Rape IS NOT a cheap topic. It is a hot topic, as there have been so many rape and murder cases in Goa , which have brought a bad name to all upright Goans. Through my humble writing, I have tried to show its ill effects on the victims and to educate and expose the unscrupulous ADVOGADS who try to shield such perpetrators. For selfish people like you, who bury their heads in the sand like ostriches and who believe in 'One for oneself, God for all', rape is a cheap topic, but it will become hot one day if someone rapes your immediate kin or your aged wife.
I humbly agree that I am an immature Director. But I can shout from my rooftop, that, in spite of being an immature Director with only 8 productions, I have scored a double century within a span of 13 months from its release, my super duper hit POLICE, a feat rarely achieved, not even by more mature directors.
I may be immature, but not an educated illiterate like you, who is turning senile by the passage of time.
Before I clarify about the songs, please identify my actors correctly, or get your vision corrected. You called JAJU Juju and Salu D'Souza was reported as Salu Faleiro, so much for your corrupt knowledge !!
The Trio on religious amity, sung by JAJU-XAV-SAL, was my subject but composed by Xavier Gomes. The Duet sung by Selvy-Anita was also my idea, composed by Francis de Tuem, and once again, the Duo sung by Roma & Steffi was also my subject, penned by Benny Rebello.
I state without fear, that the story idea, writing and direction is totally my baby. Every word in the comedy sequences is my property. I am the father of my tiatr 'ADVOGAD', and the credit should rightly go to the father first, then the children. No child takes birth without parents, one father and mother, not in your case though, because your words and actions make it amply clear that you were born of several fathers, or else have a DNA check and let us know the results.
I reiterate that I have never begged of any contractors to stage my shows, neither in the Gulf nor in the UK. My original contractors in Kuwait have always been Chequino, Mario and Tom. Xavier approached me quite a few times asking for the contract of my tiatr. I requested my above mentioned contractors, and with their permission and blessings, allowed Xavier to stage the show. It is the contractor's sole responsibility to do all the arrangements, legal formalities etc. in order to stage the show.
Everyone does it with profit motive, there is no gain without pain. I appreciate and thank Xavier for his efforts wholeheartedly. You have done the same, but with an ulterior motive. You did get free passes for yourself, your greedy family and your cronies, and you expect more next time, stinking parasite.
There is no question about my 'disappearance'. You could have said that if I had disappeared without performing. But, as usual, you are in a dirty habit of fabricating and making cock and bull stories.
I had to leave early, and I duly explained it to my artistes, only to accompany Comedienne Anita, who had to rush as she had to join B.Ed. classes. My good friends, Comedian Philip and Mario fully agreed to see to my artistes' comforts, which were mutually agreed beforehand. I asked some of my artistes if I could accommodate them at your place, but they flatly refused, thank Heavens for that. They said, they would rather spend their days at the Kuwait Church Compound, then in a stinking flat belonging to an ungrateful pervert like you. So much for your reputation! ! !
It is indeed intriguing to see you putting your fingers in every pudding and pie. You criticize every tiatrist inspite of being a NON ENTITY in this field. Script a Tiatr and stage it yourself before teaching us the traits. Show us if you have BA_ _ S, or else come down to Goa and I will employ you as a stage Helper (you will need training even for that), and I will pay you your dues.
A few more words about your 'Revenge Review'. Your good friend Mr. Rosary Ferns was supposed to sing a solo, which he did. He was informed well in advance about his slot, but even after my Musicians played the Intro about 4 times, Rosary was nowhere and people were booing, thus leaving a bad remark on my show. What kept you back in writing about this? A bottle of liquor? A few Dinars? Or a gift for your wife?
Before I wind up, please let me know if you have any personal grudge against me. Going by the things that you wrote, it is definitely personal vendetta and you have an axe to grind. As far as my memory goes the only grudge can be that you had requested me to bring 500 pork sausages and 4 packets of salted cashew nuts whilst coming to perform for Rosary's show. I brought the same eatables for you, but when I asked for the money, you fumed and got wild. Can this be the reason? You were pally with me before that, but fell off with me for reasons better know to you, which is typical of you, changing colours like a chameleon.
Your attitude and behavious towards others smells of polluted blood in your veins. Although you are a Rabid Mad Dog, you are not even of a top breed like Poms, Alsatian, etc. But a mixed blooded PARIAH DOG roaming the streets. The day is near when the MUNICIPAL AUTHORITIES will shoot you and leave you to rot. R.I.P.

Excellent response Comedian Agostinho Temudo. May your action be an inspiration to all other Tiatrists who are abused by such bloggers - in the name to gain some cheap fame as well to pleasure their croonies - as you rightly put it for 'sadistic pleasures' even after getting free entry passes.]

Khell, Khell-Tiatr & ‘Non-Stop Drama’
Khell, Khell-Tiatr & ‘Non-Stop Drama’
What is Khell, Khell-Tiatr and ‘Non-Stop Drama’? This is a question that is asked by many lovers of Khell-Tiatr. The question has arised becauses the present artistes stage Khell-Tiatrs and Tiatrs which do not conform with the traditional Tiatr as well as Khell-Tiatr.
In order to understand the exact nature of Khell, Khell-Tiatr and ‘Non-Stop Drama’, the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) called a meeting of veteran Khell artistes which was attended by Patrick Dourado, Vitorino Pereira, Ligorio Fernandes, and the present Khell-Tiatr artistes namely Roseferns and Mario Menezes.
According to these veterans, the Khell was always performed on the ground and hence it was known as ‘Zomnivoilo Khell’. It was truly a form of folk art. ‘Zomnivoilo Khell’ consisted of three ‘Parti’ (playlets) and each ‘Part’ (playlet) comprised of 8 to 10 small songs i.e. ‘Cantos’. The entire story of the ‘Khell’ was narrated to the audience through the songs. Each ‘Canto’ consisted of 2 verses and one chorus. Each ‘Part’ would be of 45 mins to 60 mins duration. The comedy was related to the story of the ‘Parti’.
Somewhere in the late 1950s, Antonio Moraes performed the Khell on a stage. Since then, the ‘Zomnivoilo Khell’ came to be known as ‘Khell-Tiatr’.
Each Khell-Tiatr consisted of two ‘Parti’ having two different themes-one before the interval and the second after the interval. Each ‘Part’ consisted of 10 to 12 songs i.e. ‘Cantos’ and the story of the ‘Khell-Tiatr’ used to be told through the songs. Many a times very few dialogues were said and mostly these dialogues were based on the lyrics of the songs. A ‘Khell-Tiatr’ of two ‘Parti’ can be actually referred to as a musical drama having two different stories. Comedy in the Khell-Tiatr was related to the stories of the two ‘Parti’
In 1976, Rosario Rodrigues, for the first time satged a Khell-Tiatr by setting the entire plot on just one theme instead of two ‘Parti’. He called this presentation of one story from the beginning to the end as Non-Stop Drama. On an average it had 20 to 30 ‘Cantos’ in the beginning. The comedy was fully interwoven with the theme of the play.
As per this information from the veteran Khell-Tiatr artistes, it is clear that the roots of Khell-Tiatr or ‘Non-Stop Drama’ lie in the traditional folk drama called ‘Zomnivoilo Khell’.
In reality, Khell, Khell-Tiatr or ‘Non-Stop Drama’ all means a musical drama which exists in all other languages. The veteran artistes who attended the meeting requested TAG to make efforts to preserve this musical form of Konkani drama called ‘Khell-Tiatr’.
TAG will make efforts to preserve and promote the Khell-Tiatr in its traditional form.
